"Long Island musician Paris Ray opened for Shimabukuro by delivering a stunning acoustic set that featured her crisp, crystalline voice that was reminiscent of Corinne Bailey Rae."
"In her own words, Paris Ray’s music is “essentially diary entries set to guitar”, its reflective music you would listen to “in a coffee shop or on a long drive.” Her sensitive, emotional music has documented her life since 9th grade. Songs like ‘Everything’ are bare, acoustic torrents of emotion about giving all you can give. Her latest songs, however, have been written about a relationship which took an abusive turn. Recently, her track ‘2016’ played a pivotal role in both her music and life. While a deeply sensitive topic, Ray wants to use her music as a vehicle to “end some of the stigma surrounding mental illness”.
"Paris Ray is a 21-year-old indie singer-songwriter, recording artist, accomplished actress and voice over artist from Long Island, NY. Her unique voice, originality and soulful lyrics have garnered rave reviews. More recently seen performing on LIVE from Center Stage in Cape Cod and FOX 5 New York’s “Star of the Day” and past headlining performances in venues from Manhattan (The Bitter End) to the East End of Long Island, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maine and Nashville, Paris is getting her name out there and getting noticed."
"Paris Ray was the grand-prize winner at the Gold Coast Arts Center, Great Neck, Long Island, Saturday, April 1. Paris Ray, a 21-year old from St. James who majored in Studio Composition in the Conservatory of Music at college, dazzled the judges with her original song, “Astronomy” (“I became an astronaut so I could give you space.”) off her Just Visiting EP; a second, highly personal original song that gets to the heart of domestic violence, as well as the required George Michael song (each of the contestants only a week ago was assigned a George Michael song to perform)."
